Both Lorren and Justin went through having their hearts broken but through different circumstances. Lorren's broken heart was through mental and physical abuse by her husband of 2 years. The abuse started on their wedding night. Scott belittled Lorren by continuing to tell her she wasn't woman enough to satisfy him in bed. As far as he was concerned Lorren's only good quality was being a good hostess when he wanted to impress his boss and clients. The mental abuse eventually turned into physical abuse which convinced Lorren it was time to leave the marriage. This abuse turned Lorren to close her heart to relationships with men and love. But this all changed when she met Justin Madaris. Justin's heart was broken when his wife of 5 years died, from an inoperable brain tumor, in his arms. He felt guilty because with him being a doctor he couldn't cure her. But Justin never gave up on finding love again, that was his fate. He felt when the right woman can alone he would know. His fate was in Lorren but Justin was afraid of accepting that fate. His fear was having his heart broken by loving again then losing that person. Eventually the walls Lorren built melted when she realized she loved Justin and Justin's fate was Lorren. They both helped each other heal their broken hearts, married and started a family. Brenda Jackson details how these 2 persons conquered their broken hearts and some of the obstacles they came across. Of course Brenda does it again with a great read.
